Ignite Teaching School is designated as an NQT appropriate body and will support schools’ NQTs to make the best possible start to their teaching careers. The package we offer is fully inclusive of accreditation, first class training and support that enables NQTs to rapidly develop into outstanding teachers.

At the end of the induction year we are planning to introduce an additional offer of support for the NQT+1 year so the same peer support network remains in place.

What is included in our offer?

  • Full day of Mentor training focussed on coaching and personalised mentoring
  • Support session to ensure in school NQT provision complements Ignite training offer
  • Pre course audit of NQT strengths and areas of development to support personalised training offer
  • 3 conferences and 3 twilight sessions throughout the NQT year to aid effective development
  • Bespoke secondary and primary sessions led by experienced specialists.
  • Opportunities to work primary and secondary colleagues to colloborate in a small number of workshops across the year.
  • Opportunities to observe practice for all NQTs
  • Access to simple and effective online NQT manager
  • Celebration event upon completion of NQT
  • Early access to tickets for #IgniteTM in June

Aims

  • To provide a first class service through our dedicated NQT Appropriate Body
  • To allow teachers to develop a positive peer support network in their early career
  • To provide prompt response times and streamlined processes using the online NQT manager system
  • To develop and provide a personalised and highly effective programme of training
  • Help to develop more highly effective teachers and address retention issues
  • To develop and recognise excellent mentors.

Calendar

Prior to course starting

▪ Full days mentor training – essential for new mentors but also useful as a recap

▪ Induction Coordinators Event – ensure that school and AB systems and training blend

Follow up mentor support will also be on offer throughout the induction period

Primary- All conferences run from 9:00-3:00. Twilights run from 4.00-6.00. The main course leader is Anna Catlin but NQTs will hear from a range of speakers.

  • September Conference – What to expect from your NQT year. Focus on TS1 Organisation and Efficiency/Workload Management and TS7 Behaviour Management/ Child Dev (Thrive)
  • January Conference -Focus on TS2 Planning for Differentiation and Modelling, TS4 Thinking and Grouping, TS8 use of TA’s
  • April/May Conference – How to plan a curriculum and lessons within it that work for all students. Focus on TS3 SMSC/British Values and TS6 Writing Moderation
  • Summer Twilight – Beach School
  • TeachMeet – priority access to tickets for the TeachMeet before public release.

Secondary– All conferences run from 9:00-3:00. Twilights run from 4.00-6.00. The main course leader is Dave Richards but NQTs will hear from a range of speakers.

  • September Conference – What to expect from your NQT, Focus on TS 1 and 7. Setting the tone, high expectations and behaviour
  • Autumn Twilight – the focus will be in response to pre-course audit done by NQTs
  • January Conference – Focus on TS 2 and 6. Maximising progress and effective use Assessment and Data.
  • Spring Twilight – response to AP1
  • April/May Conference – Focus on TS3, 4 and 5. Effective Planning and Differentiation across the curriculum
  • Summer Twilight – response to AP2 and future caree planning.
  • TeachMeet – priority access to tickets for the TeachMeet before public release.

Cost

Ignite TSA partnership school: £400 for first NQT, £350 each for 2 or more NQTs.

Other schools: £450 for first NQT, £400 each for 2 or more NQTs.

Partial assessment period: £150 per term.
